With the advent of hackers, cyber pirates, identity thieves, and e commerce, the Internet has now become a market place of practically hundreds of millions of businesses and individuals.  What we're seeing today is a picture of:

Individuals using the Internet to retrieve information, communicate with each other, and do business with companies of all sizes.

Companies of all sizes using the Internet to carry out e commerce.

Governments using the Internet to share and spread information, and to carry out their business.

Universities using the Internet to offer courses, share information, and do business.

Identity thieves using the Internet to reach havoc with both businesses and individuals.

Cyber pirates using the Internet to do the same.

The developers of the Internet feel strongly that they can revamp the Internet so that it becomes even more powerful.  Faster, more secure, and more in tune with the demands of the day.  More able to accommodate e commerce, more fool proof against hackers and identity thieves, and more able to meet the needs of everyone.

It would be interesting to follow this story as it develops because if it indeed comes to pass, then the experts strongly believe that there may soon be a tsunami like demand for designers, developers, and programmers to help with this massive project.  Keep your eye on this development.
