Video games manufacturers competing for your dollar

Hello there!  I'm Matt Chadwick at the business desk and as Christmas/the holiday season fast approaches, the three main video games manufacturers are now quite busy competing for your dollars.  In fact, we can say that the Christmas/holiday season is here and now is the time for you to think sensibly when it comes to purchasing those video games for your kids.
On the one hand we have Sony with their play station systems telling you how exciting and interesting their video games are and how much your kids would enjoy one of these for Christmas.  Sony still has much of the multi billion dollar market in their pockets with the largest market share but Sony is also battling some rough times as they strive to put the battery recall behind them.  Last year Apple had to recall hundreds of thousands of their computers because of faulty Sony batteries and this year IBM and Del had to do the same.
Then we have the EX. Box gaming system by Microsoft.  Microsoft is telling the world how great their system is and how much your kids would enjoy one of their systems for Christmas.
Finally we have the new release of Nintendo's gaming system.  We recently witnessed long line-ups for this new release and like the other two Nintendo is spending much time to promote its new release.
There are a lot of concerns these days re the quality of video games being produced and how much or how far manufacturers are willing to go in order to capture your dollar.  Some video games are packed with way too much suggestions of violence and hints of how to do it all.  Others are loaded with sexual intonations and leads the imagination into drumming up ideas for committing crime.  In short, there are way too many video games around that are absolutely no good for young minds.
The video game industry is a multi billion dollar business these days stretching from Japan across the Pacific to North America and further on anndthese games are playing a very big part in the lives of our youngsters these days.  Let's be very candid:  Video games are here to stay whether we like it or not but there's something that we can do in order to influence the type of video games that manufacturers develop and sell.  As parents we need to become more vocal and firm when it comes to the types of video games that we buy for our kids.  We need to be more watchful of what types of video games our kids play and we need to play a bigger part in changing the nature of the video games industry.
Can we as parents do this?  Sure we can!  After all, aren't we the ones buying these games for our kids?  Are we not the ones forking out the money for them to buy them?
Lots to think about as you prepare to fill those long wish lists from your kids.
